Dr Meagan Pearse

Dr Meagan Pearse is an educational leader, researcher, and music educator whose work informs curriculum, pedagogy, and professional practice in Queensland and internationally. She is Head of Faculty (Music), leading curriculum innovation, staff development, and inclusive teaching practice in an all-boys school. 

She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Her research examines how the sex of the teacher interacts with gendered expectations and stereotypes, school culture, and hegemonic masculinity to shape teaching and learning in all-boys schools. Her findings are informing professional conversations about boys’ learning, female teachers’ pedagogical approaches, pre-service teacher preparation, and strategies to support and retain experienced educators in single-sex schools. Dr Pearse’s mission is to translate research into practical, sustainable change by leading evidence-informed conversations that challenge sexism and gender stereotypes and strengthen reflective teaching practice.

A TEACHX finalist, she is respected for leadership that bridges classroom teaching and measurable impact, with international recognition as an ISME World Conference Sponsored Delegate. She is an IB Music curriculum developer, a QCAA subject matter expert, and a presenter at national and international conferences.

Through curriculum leadership, professional learning, and advocacy, she works to advance equitable, evidence-informed practice across the education sector.
